How do I know if a diet is safe and not a fad diet?

Characteristics of a fad diet: A Quick/ instant change, monotonous/ restrictive diet, leads to immediate (dramatic) weight loss, and fasting may be included.

Where can I find Omega 3 fatty acids in foods?

Omega 3's are found in fatty fish, such as salmon and tuna, as well as plant-based foods like walnuts, chia seeds and flaxseed.

What does a healthy diet look like? Good foods? Bad foods?

Balance, Variety, Moderation and Adequacy are the four core concepts of a healthy diet. Remember healthy eating includes a healthy relationship with food. Food is not the enemy. Food is meant to be savored and enjoyed, as well as to provide the nutrients needed to promote health and well-being! A diet focused on: Fruits, Vegetables, Dairy, Protein, and Whole Grains, while limiting: Processed Foods, Saturated Fats, Added Sugars, and Sodium will lead to a healthy diet!

What happens if I over consume on one macronutrient?

If fat, carbohydrates or protein, are consumed well beyond the recommendation, it will lead to fat formation. It is important to implement a balanced variety of all each of these macronutrients to ensure a healthy style of living!
